MIPJ and Tokyo Power Technology Launch Joint Initiative to Enhance the Value Chain of the BSX Radionuclide Capture Platform

Tokyo, Japan — Dec 8, 2025 —

Medical Isotopes Prime Japan (MIPJ), a subsidiary of AMS, and Tokyo Power Technology (TPT), a wholly owned subsidiary of Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, announced a joint initiative to enhance the value of radionuclides captured by the BSX system—Japan’s first rapid nuclear-medicine biowaste treatment solution developed under the country’s stringent regulatory framework.

The BSX system safely captures therapeutic radionuclides—including ¹⁷⁷Lu, ²²⁵Ac, and other medical isotopes—into a single sealed absorbent column, in which all radionuclides and their decay daughters remain immobilized and undergo passive decay stabilization. The system requires no chemical separation or multi-fraction handling, enabling simple, robust, and safe operation in clinical environments.

By integrating BSX’s radionuclide-capture and stabilization capabilities with TPT’s radiation-engineering expertise gained through decommissioning operations at Fukushima, we aim to enhance the total value chain of BSX, supporting the safe expansion of advanced radiopharmaceutical therapies as well as future research and scientific applications.
